Riverfest 2007 will be held in Hartford and East Hartford starting
at 4 p.m. and will honor those who have served in our armed forces.
The festivities will culminate with a half-hour choreographed
fireworks show, which will be launched from barges in the
Connecticut River at 9:45 p.m. Patriotic music will be
played live on WDRC-FM (102.9) to accompany the show.
There is free off-site parking, and shuttle buses will
run a loop from Charter Oak Landing to Mortensen Riverfront Plaza
on the Hartford side, connecting all four venues.

The fireworks originally scheduled for July 4 at the Quassy Amusement
Park have been rescheduled for Saturday, July 7 at 10 p.m. Quassy
is putting on a "3-D" fireworks display. Fireworks
will be fired off as usual, but the amusement park will be offering
special "3-D" viewing glasses for $1, with the proceeds
going to benefit the Prevent Blindness Tri-State charity. Admission
is: $19.95 for adults and $15.95 for children. July 4th parking
is $7. Rides open at 11 a.m.. Quassy is off Route 64. Information:

New Britain
The parks and recreation department will host the 13th annual
Great American Boom at Stanley Quarter Park on Saturday, July
7. The event was originally scheduled for July 4, but was postponed
by rain. The giant celebration begins at 5p.m and culminates
with a fireworks display about 9:15p.m.
A $5 wrist band or a family four-pack
for $15 can be purchased, which will allow for unlimited access
to attractions, including the petting zoo, from 5 to 8:30 p.m.
Clowns will be roaming the park. Three-D glasses which enhance
the fireworks display, will be sold for $2.
A state-of-the-art sound system
will be set up throughout the park to project the pre-recorded
patriotic music in-sync with the fireworks show.
Parking will be available at
Central Connecticut State University. Handicapped parking is
available at Stanley Quarter Park through Eddy Glover Boulevard
entrance only. People should bring blankets, lawn chairs and
